"I don't want to go to college", said Mohan when asked what he wants to study.
Mohan is studying 10th standard and one of the children supported with the donations we received. He was rearing goats before he was admitted to our special school. It was shocking to me when I heard Mohan saying "I don't want to go to college". The children of his age normally say with their eyes glittering and with a dreamy look that they want to study medicine, engineering, nursing, etc. . But when I asked Mohan what he wanted to study, he said the above words. It was quite unusual.
After restoring myself from the shock, I called him near me and asked why he was saying like that. He hesitated to answer me. I had to ask the question few times repeatedly holding his hands. Then with his eyes filled with tears he said, " My parents are poor. They could not afford to send me to college". The staff who were there, Mohan's mother and myself were taken aback listening to this. He was counselled, given hope that if he studies with desire he will get help from noble hearts as he got help now.
Thank you gentlemen and ladies for filling the life of poor children (who are helpless and hopeless like Mohan) with hope and confidence.
During June to August 2016 you have donated a sum of $726.75 This money will be used to support 5 children. The plan is to give the money to the children during the Joy of Giving week in October.
Thank you donors for helping our dear children continuously. Kindly continue to support us by spreading words to your friends and relatives who are like-minded. Your words carry weight and more children who were once child labourers can be supported to continue their studies.
Thank you once again for your valuable donations.
