Dear Donors,
You have a great news to hear in this report.
$703.27 set aside last quarter for supporting the children (once child labourers) is spent during this quarter, A grand function was organised on March 12th. 6 children were supported with the available funds. Out of this Nathan and Geetha (names changed) were supported consecutively for two years. Nathan is in the second year of undergraduation. Geetha is in her 12th standard. The other 4 are from Kaja Pettai, Musiri and Arangoor. The boy from Kaja Pettai is doing his 9th dsdjstandard. The girl Nivea from Musiri is in her 11th standard. The boys from Arangoor are in their higher studies. These children from Arangoor are the children of the special community called Kudu kudupai kaarar, the Tamil Soothsayers. It was a great proud filled moment to see our children competing in all their oddities with the creamy layer.
Nivea’s(name changed) father passed away 3 years back when she was 12 years old. They live in extreme poverty. Her mother works in a cotton mill and earns Rs 125 daily. She has got are elder brother Praveen doing his BE. Their uncle supports them financially for their education. When Nivea was 7 years old she was rearing goat. When the New Life team found her working, they took efforts to join her in our special school. She studied till 4th standard in our Special School for Child Labour in Manamedu. She was admitted in the 5th standard in the nearby regular school.
She is intelligent. She was promoted to the higher standards with good scores. In the tenth standard state level exams she scored 80%. At present she is studying in 11th standard. This girl is one among the children selected for education support in this quarter. Nivea says this money will help her pay her tution fees in the school and to buy notebooks.
Nivea's teacher Mr. Srithar says, "Nivea is a very bright student. When she studied in the special school she will be the first to answer all my questions. She is much confident and brave. When I asked her what is her goal in life, her eyes glittered with passion. She said I want to become a lawyer. I wish that this girl should shine in her life like her glittering eyes."
Many thanks for your constant support to the deserving children like Nivea. Kindly spread words about our project to your friends and relatives. This will help us reach more children like Nivea.
With gratitude
