Dear Donors,
To motivate the trainees of skill training and to introduce the habit of book reading amongst them, New Life’s mobile library is now expanded to the Nagamangalam Housing Board. It is a Slum Clearance Board where a lot of coolies are staying. The Mobile Library started functioning there on 3.8.2019. Children eagerly browsed the books and read the books of their choice.
Jasmine (name changed) is 16 years old. She is a school dropout / Child labourer. She could not continue her studies after 8th standard. Now she has joined our skill training programme for ex-child labourers in Nagamangalam.
Jasmine chose a book on “Rules of the Road” in Tamil. When asked why she selected the book, she says “I chose the book as it had more pictures” (with a big smile). She continued, “I learnt the rules I should follow while using the road. I don’t know about the traffic signals so far. In fact, I haven’t seen them. Now I learnt about them.”
Children like Jasmine have the opportunity to learn new things through the Mobile Library. This is possible only with support from you dear donors. Kindly keep supporting our projects both financially and morally as we need funds for operating the library. Keep spreading words about the project to your friends and relatives. Your words carry weight.
Dear donors, you may be knowing about the “Little by Little Campaign” during August 12-16. Your small donations will add up to great change. GlobalGiving will match donations up to $50 & there will be cash prizes for the top fundraising project. So contribute during August 12-16 to multiply the value of your donations.
Thank you once again!
With regards,
