This project aims to reduce the number of girls dropping out of secondary school due to a lack of funds and school supplies. It will also decrease period poverty and break the culture of silence around menstruation, boosting these girls' confidence, self-esteem, and self-awareness. It will address the root cause of why girls aren't in school. It will inspire communal problem-solving.
Gender inequality promotes female dropouts, reducing female graduation rates. Fewer girls go to college, making them financially dependent. Patriarchal structures, cultural attitudes, and girl devaluation are the causes. Period poverty makes it worse since low-income girls skip school due to a lack of sanitary pads leading to poor academic performance and dropout. Disparities in education can lead to early and child marriages, gender discrimination, and girls not knowing their rights.
At least a secondary education will prepare girls for life. This will allow girls to reach their potential and contribute equally as boys. Enrolling girls who have never attended school and paying fees for the least privileged. Sensitizing parents, teachers, and religious leaders on the importance of girls' education. Advocating religious, traditional, and political leaders, distributing reusable pads to combat menstrual poverty and shame, and health education for girls.
The long-term impacts expected are: Reduced number of out-of-school girls. Reduced rate of girls dropping out of school. Increased enrolment of girls in school. Behavioral change of parents and communities toward girl child education Increased number of girls completing secondary school Reduced rate of girls in child marriage, SGBVs Steps towards achieving gender equality
