A group of up to 10 Lao men and women will shortly be commencing the Teacher Training Program through the Mekong English Centre. MEC has a commitment to training Lao Nationals to teach in their programs. The process of selecting this group considers issues such as gender fairness and ethnic group representation. Over the 6 month training program the participants receive a wage and are exposed to styles of teaching that are student centered. In successfully completing the program, the teachers are guaranteed a job with MEC for the next 2 years.
