Join us as we Celebrate the Small Things

By Kelly Martin | CEO

Dear friends,

As 2020 draws to a close, the team at the Conservation Education Society takes a moment to reflect on this year’s activities. One thing we can all agree upon, 2020 certainly was not what anyone had expected. However, there are many things we are still thankful for, and in the spirit of giving, we wanted to take a moment to share them with you!

  • Our most important achievement this year has been our partnership with GlobalGiving. In March we were invited to participate in the GlobalGiving accelerator campaign. We were incredibly thankful to have successfully reached our goal and to receive a permanent partnership with GlobalGiving!
  • GlobalGiving has not only assisted us in raising nearly $8,000 this year but has also put us in touch with YOU! Our partnerships and networks are what allows us to continue our work in marine conservation and sustainability. Therefore, we are thankful to be able to share our work with our growing network.
  • We are thankful for our amazing team who have worked incredibly hard this year to keep our audience engaged, this has been through our online quizzes, our monthly newsletters, blogs, photo competitions, and much more! Take a moment to check them out!
  • After 6 months of closure, we were able to reopen the Marine Education Centre to the public. Adhering to health and safety regulations, we are careful not to increase the spread of COVID-19; wearing masks, sanitizing our workspace and practicing social distancing. We are thankful to be open to the public for small tours.
  • We are thankful for being able to participate in the 2020 International Coastal Clean-up, which was conducted between September to November.

What are you thankful for this year? Let us know by posting on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram: @conservationeducationsociety, Twitter: @CESKenya)!

We want to thank everyone who has supported us in 2020, we wish you a safe and enjoyable time during the festive season. We are especially looking forward to working with nearby schools and groups and kick-starting our education programmes in 2021.

Yours sincerely

Marine Team
