This project will construct at least 50 streams of water and at least 100 water holes in the city where people can collect clean water from, it will also build 10 public toilets, in the city of Kalemi, DRCongo. It will also engage people on hygiene habits through awareness including cooking drinking water, and support authorities to bring clean water near to people. This project will engage people on proper managing of rubbish in the city and put in place people to monitor the situation.
There are currently 700,000 people in the City of Kalemie and more than 3,000 war victims from Goma, Bukavu and Uvira in DRCongo. Although the government and her partner Doctor Without Borders are doing their best to provide clean water, many people are still at high risk of hydric diseases and as per per Friday 2nd May 2025 more than 2000 were infected by Cholera and increased number of deaths. This project seek to provide alternatives to clean water to at 500,000 in Kalemie City and IDPs camp.
This project will reduce cases of Cholera through access to clean water, treatment water, provide community information on how to manage water and the rubbish, medicine to health centers which are treating the sick, organize community information sessions and put in place team that will continue monitoring the risks and community habits which may worsted the situation. In short to make the water clean, and ensure that people access it.
This will end Cholera risks in Kalemie and facilitate to focus on development activities, help the city to be well prepared through human resource and infrastructure that may quickly address the situation. This will reduce the number of deaths and give everyone the chance to live and therefore contribute to the development of the community. It will help particularly women and children to be safe and access clean water easily so that they can other things.
