Touching Lives Community School is a charity school bringing early childhood education to vulnerable children in a rural community in Ghana. With no other school in the community, some children travel 30-40 minutes to access education, while others are at risk of child labour, neglect and exploitation. This project will provide a safe place to learn, helping protect children through education and giving them hope for a brighter future.
Children in KWEI Village, a rural farming community in Ghana, face serious barriers to education. With no accessible school in the community, children may walk 30-40 minutes through bush paths to attend school in neighbouring communities. For many young children, this journey is difficult, leaving some at home and vulnerable to child labour, neglect and exploitation. Some accompany parents to farms or become involved in gari processing and selling instead of learning. Poverty and limited access
Touching Lives Community School, a charity school in KWEI Village, will provide free early childhood education within the community. The project will provide trained teachers, learning materials, school breakfast and a safe learning environment for young children. Child protection education will also engage children and families to reduce child labour, neglect and exploitation, while enabling children to learn close to home.
The project will give at least 150 vulnerable children in KWEI Village access to free early childhood education, reducing their risk of child labour, neglect and exploitation. Over time, more children will enter and remain in school, gain a strong educational foundation and have better opportunities for the future. By engaging families and promoting education, the project will help break the cycle of child labour and poverty in the community.
