Cervical cancer claims the lives of over 340k women each year, while over 600k are diagnosed. This statistic is rising in low-income countries where it is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women 35-45. Cervical cancer is preventable and curable, but women face significant barriers to accessing vaccination, screening, and treatment. Help end this tragedy by prioritizing healthcare equity for women & girls; because no woman should die of a preventable disease.
Worldwide, a woman dies of cervical cancer every two minutes, yet it is a preventable disease. So, why does it still exist? Because women & girls around the world do not have equal access to three potentially life-saving interventions: Vaccination, Screening, and Treatment. Basic Health International performs ground-breaking global research that helps women get the care they need and prevent this devastating disease.
Basic Health International are globally recognized leaders in the prevention of cervical cancer and have research project sites in Haiti, El Salvador, China, Colombia, and plan to expand soon into Africa. We provide clinical training, research, and public policy guidance in cervical cancer screening and treatment for women in resource-poor communities. Our greatest impact is in the development of innovative technologies and techniques to reach the world's most vulnerable women.
Basic Health International's work aligns with the WHO directive to eliminate cervical cancer proliferation by 2030. BHI is actively involved in the creation of cervical cancer guidelines and scalable country-wide adoption recommendations. We provide in-country training to clinicians working with us around the world, a sustainable and community-driven approach. By extending our model globally, with effective and affordable technologies, we save lives and will end this disease.
