Maybe like me, you have a long list of new year's resolutions that may not happen. But you already have a headstart on one of my favorites -- Giving Sight to All!
Your donations throughout the year helped many people see clearly, and all of us at Aravind thank you for your support.
Just this past year, you helped provide care for 70 new patients with eye cancer. and more than 1000 follow visits.
One of the people you helped was Maria, who first came to Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, when her parents noticed a white reflection in both her eyes. Her father, a daily wage laborer, and her mother, a homemaker, were devastated to learn that Maria had bilateral retinoblastoma—a life-threatening eye cancer. With support from the Ring of Hope, Maria underwent multiple cycles of chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiotherapy. She received custom ocular prostheses, restoring her confidence and appearance.
I met Maria on my last visit to India. Maria has gone on to excel academically, scoring high marks in her 12th standard exams and earning a merit seat for higher education. Now pursuing a B.A. in English, Maria continues to receive rehabilitation and digital literacy training, empowering her to live independently and pursue her dreams.
