This project will enable 50 under-resourced adults in Atlanta, Georgia to build new ways forward for themselves and their families. Partners in Change offers access to one year of free, weekly life coaching conversations with a trained volunteer life coach.
Too many under-resourced adults do not have access to opportunities for ongoing personal development. Their internal assets often are not recognized or validated, and a path to growth can seem out of reach. Too many human service agencies focus on an individual's problem and offer short-term, transactional solutions. PIC believes instead that every person is a problem-solver, capable of growing their life skills, and has the right to self-empower and achieve long-term, lasting transformation.
Research shows that the ongoing supportive presence of a life coach significantly and positively impacts one's ability to achieve goals, maintain mental wellness, and improve overall quality of life. PIC trains volunteers to serve as year-long, 1:1 supportive coaches to under-resourced adults pursuing new goals. Coaches learn communication and coaching skills that, over 52 weeks, enable their Member to gain new confidence and build important life skills in goal setting and problem-solving.
PIC Members are role models for others in the community as they build new businesses, increase their education, improve their housing, develop financial literacy, improve family dynamics, or achieve better health. They are recognizing their full potential. PIC Coaches gain insights into the impact of economic disparities and inspiration from their Members' resilience. The greater community is seeing that investing in the development of the whole person offers opportunities for lasting change.
