NewU is the first 3-year Bachelor's degree college in the US. We are a non-profit university with a campus in Washington, DC serving under-resourced and first-generation students who need college the most. A stunning 90% of our students say they would not be be able to afford college if not for NewU. This campaign will help 3 students complete their Bachelor's degree without taking any loans and eliminate the lifelong financial burden on their future to boost their social and economic mobility.
College is out of reach for too many young people. High tuition costs and living expenses exclude low-income students. Getting locked out of higher education is a problem that follows people throughout their lives because college is the single most effective instrument for bridging social, economic and racial equity gaps.
NewU eliminated racial and socioeconomic bias from the admissions process. High school GPA is the strongest predictor of academic success in college and is the only admission criterion at NewU. No discriminatory test scores, essays, or recommendation letters favoring those financially able to enhance their chances of getting admitted. We built a next generation university operating model. It makes tuition surprisingly affordable. With just $6,000 out-of-pocket cost, students can be debt-free.
