ODC empowers under-privileged children in Cambodia with the ability to speak, write, listen and read in English and to access better job opportunities to create a brighter future for themselves and their country. In 2021, ODC will pilot an expanded curriculum, teaching Maths, Science and Social Science in English and increasing teacher-student contact time. Undoubtedly, this program will significantly advance students' English proficiency and broaden their understanding in these core subjects.
The right to education is a basic human right. Despite some progress, children in Cambodia are still failing to reach standards appropriate for their age. In rural and poor areas, the problems are amplified. Many schools experience poor quality teaching and learning, and attendance is irregular. Being proficient in English offers many job opportunities but in most government schools the standard and quality of English teaching are poor and intermittent.
The 2021 expanded curriculum will enable students to advance their educational outcomes significantly. This pilot program will be offered to children aged 6-7. They will thrive in a stimulating and creative English speaking environment and develop a passion for learning. ODC will employ an additional local teacher to join our committed team. In 2021, together with our normal English classes, ODC will provide quality English education to over 120 children.
This project will empower over 120 children with the ability to speak, write, listen and read in English and equip them with critical life skills to access better job opportunities. ODC also provides future pathways through our Teaching Training Scholarship and Merit Scholarship programs. Our holistic, rich and inclusive approach is based on values, culture and ethics to help youth better shape their lives. We are making a difference. Please join us!
