Dear Global Givers,
Here’s an update from our current project where 50 rural women entrepreneurs who have been shortlisted for training to help them become economically self-sufficient.
During this period we are happy to share that the baseline survey has been completed for the shortlisted women. Regular interaction and meetings are organised with other women entrepreneurs. This helps in keeping the new batch of women motivated and helps to create a safe space to come together.
Many women have shown keen interest in taking part in the training. However, the funds raised are limited and we are waiting for more funds so that the first batch of the training can begin. Once the training starts, the training will be conducted by an external facilitator on educating women on rural sales and marketing. Our team have also started exploring linkages with regional e-commerce companies as a sustainability strategy. The credit linkages are already established at the local level and can be availed by the women post the training for their business expansion.
The pandemic had a crippling effect on the rural economies across developing nations. In particular, rural women have been disproportionately affected by the resulted socio-economic hardships. Rural women (women farmers, agriculture entrepreneurs, labour) were severely impacted. In addition, the pandemic also widened the gender pay gap in the farming sector. Rural women continue to play a crucial role in agriculture and are responsible for household food security in their communities. Their participation helps in achieving economic, environmental, and social changes required for the sustainable development of an economy.
To empower these women, we need your continued support and help them become economically self-sustained so that they are able to supplement their family income and help them have a say in important family decisions.
We hope that with your support, together we will be able to witness a new generation of empowered rural women entrepreneurs.
With deep gratitude,
Team iPartner India
