Thank you!
By Sara Hassan | Education Program Officer
At TakingITGlobal, we’ve been up to some exciting projects since the beginning of the new year to help strengthen the capacity of youth around the world to create environmental change in their communities. Since the last report, we have:
- Designed educational resources and delivered webinars to help educators implement environmental education in their classrooms and empower their students;
- Hosted webinars on World Earth Day with young changemakers from across Canada, USA, Indonesia, Australia, Taiwan, Romania and Slovakia to discuss deforestation and great ape habitat loss, while hearing from youth on their plans to design and launch deforestation awareness projects in their communities;
- Supported youth to monitor rainforest lands through programs like Earthwatchers, and;
- Launched a mobile phone recycle campaign to address coltan mining in Western Africa.
Again, thank you for your continued support to help us empower the next generation of environmental leaders, and we looking forward to sharing more updates with you!

Did you know that those who are more environmentally knowledgeable are 50% more likely to recycle, 50% more likely to avoid using chemicals on their lawn, and 10% more likely to save energy in their home? Through your support to date, TakingITGlobal (TIG) has been able to engage youth, students and educators around the world to collaborate across borders, learning about and taking action on pressing environmental challenges.
Over the last 3 months, TIG has:
- Developed new and engaging educational resources to help youth design and implement environmental action projects;
- Hosted webinars for educators and students across North America, East Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia Pacific to showcase innovative school-based projects designed to address deforestation and inspire others to take similar actions;
- Supported youth to monitor rainforest lands through programs like Earthwatchers, and;
- Provided ongoing guidance and support for community-based environmental action projects like Creating Reusuable Shopping Bags from Old Clothes.
Your donation has made it possible for TIG to strengthen the capacity of youth around the world to create environmental change in their communities. We are looking forward to growing our support for young global changemakers, and sharing their updates with you!
