Project Report: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Microfinance Fund

Summary of Activities

Since we kicked off the Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Microfinance Fund, OBHIZATRIK Foundation has been on a mission to raise $30,000. This fund aims to provide small loans to 100 women in the first year, with a vision to reach up to 500 women over the next five years through a revolving fund. Our goal is to empower women to start or expand their businesses, fostering economic independence and community growth.

Impact and Progress

We are thrilled to share that we’ve already raised a portion of the required funds and have started the initial stages of the program. Our efforts are beginning to bear fruit. Take Ayesha (name changed for privacy), for example. She received a grant to expand her small tailoring business. With the additional funds, she purchased new sewing machines and now she can hire people to work with her. This has significantly increased her production capacity and income, transforming her business and her life.

Recent Developments

In recent months, we’ve been actively engaging with local communities and stakeholders to promote the microfinance program. We’ve conducted several workshops and training sessions to educate potential beneficiaries about financial management and business development. These efforts have been well-received, with many women expressing interest in participating in the program.

Rationale for Donation

The need for financial support for women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh is critical. Recent data shows that women entrepreneurs face significant challenges due to a lack of access to funding, which limits their ability to grow their businesses and achieve economic independence (a2i, 2023)*. By contributing to the Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Microfinance Fund, donors can directly impact the lives of these women, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to the overall development of their communities.

Your support is essential in helping us reach our goal and make a lasting difference in the lives of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. Together, we can empower women to achieve their dreams and create a brighter future for their families and communities.
