6th Update Report - Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

By Maksuda Akter Hridi | Exicutive, Partnership, OBHIZATRIK Foundation

Project Summary

OBHIZATRIK Foundation continues its commitment to empowering women from underprivileged communities through the Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Project. The project supports women who have limited access to financial resources and opportunities by providing livelihood assets instead of cash loans.

Based on their skills, interests, and existing experience, beneficiaries receive essential income-generating assets such as sewing machines, kitchen appliances, and livestock. These resources help women start small businesses or strengthen their current livelihoods.

As a result, many women are now successfully engaged in tailoring, home-based food production, and livestock rearing. These activities are helping them earn a regular income, support their families, and become more financially independent.

The project promotes women's economic empowerment by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and increasing their confidence as active contributors to their households and communities.

Solution

The project continues to make a positive difference in the lives of women from low-income communities. With access to livelihood assets, beneficiaries are now able to generate income independently and reduce their reliance on others for financial support.

Beyond improving household income, the project has strengthened women's confidence, decision-making ability, and social participation. Many beneficiaries are now contributing more actively to family expenses and playing a greater role in important household decisions.

By supporting sustainable income-generating activities, the project is helping break the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for long-term economic growth and stability.

Through this initiative, OBHIZATRIK Foundation is moving closer to its vision of building a more inclusive and equitable society where women have equal opportunities to thrive.

Challenges

While the project has achieved encouraging results, several challenges remain:

  • Some beneficiaries require additional training and mentoring to maximize the use of their livelihood assets.
  • Limited access to local markets can affect their ability to sell products and expand their businesses.
  • Transportation and mobility constraints make it difficult for some women to reach larger customer bases and business opportunities.

To address these challenges, OBHIZATRIK Foundation conducts regular follow-up visits, provides ongoing guidance, and explores market linkage opportunities and local networking support for beneficiaries.

Future Plan

In the coming months, OBHIZATRIK Foundation aims to expand the project and support more women entrepreneurs with livelihood assets and basic business development training.

With the continued support of GlobalGiving and generous donors, we plan to reach more women across different districts of Bangladesh, enabling them to become self-reliant and economically empowered.

The project also aims to create a sustainable revolving support mechanism that can continue assisting new women entrepreneurs over the next five years. This approach will help generate lasting impact, create local employment opportunities, and contribute to community development.

Conclusion

The Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Project is transforming the lives of underprivileged women by providing practical livelihood support and creating pathways to financial independence and dignity.

With the continued encouragement and support of GlobalGiving and our valued donors, OBHIZATRIK Foundation remains dedicated to expanding this initiative and helping more women build sustainable livelihoods, strengthen their communities, and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
