Dear GlobalGiving donors,
Thank you for investing in women and girls in our community. Because of you, education is becoming a path out of poverty for families who were left behind.
What we did this quarter
1. Kept girls in school: We provided school fees, uniforms, and sanitary kits so they didn’t have to drop out.
2. Ran adult literacy classes: women completed our 12-week Chichewa and basic English program. Many can now sign their names and help children with homework.
3. Launched tailoring skills training: young women started training. The goal is for them to earn income and pay for siblings’ school fees.
The impact: Meet Memory
Memory, 16, had to leave school last year when her parents couldn’t afford fees. Through your support, she’s back in Form 2 and received a menstrual hygiene kit.
_“Before, I missed school every month. Now I come every day. I want to be a teacher,”_ Memory told us.
Her mother also joined our literacy class and can now read school letters from Memory’s teacher.
Challenges & how we adapted
Transport costs rose, making it hard for some girls to attend tailoring classes. We moved 2 training groups closer to villages and partnered with local leaders to provide safe meeting spaces.
What’s next
With your continued support, we plan to:
1. Expand literacy classes to reach women
2. Provide start-up sewing kits for the first 15 women who complete tailoring training
3. Hold community meetings to keep girls in school and delay early marriage
Thank you
You’re not just funding a program. You’re funding Memory’s future, a mother’s dignity, and a community’s belief that education changes everything. Zikomo kwambiri.
With gratitude,
