A Story That Should Never Be Repeated
"Every 19 seconds, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Every 50 seconds, another loses her life. Together, we can stop the clock and save lives."
Imagine the heartbreak of a young mother, just 32 years old, whose life was tragically cut short by aggressive stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her story is one of missed opportunities—misinformation, delayed care, and barriers to access that could have been prevented. She left behind a one-year-old daughter, a child who will grow up never knowing the embrace of her mother.
Her loss is not just a personal tragedy; it is a wake-up call. It reminds us of why our mission at Rose Breast Health (RBH) is urgent and critical:
No woman should lose her life to breast cancer because of where she lives, what she knows, or what she can afford.
A Journey of Hope: Lily’s Triumph
Lily, a 42-year-old mother of three in Kenya, came dangerously close to being another tragic statistic. After inconclusive diagnoses of late-stage breast cancer, fear, cultural stigmas, and financial barriers nearly kept her silent.
Everything changed when her sister stumbled upon our “Know Your Breasts” webinar two years ago. With newfound knowledge and courage, Lily sought help. Through RBH’s programs, she received:
- Funded comprehensive diagnostic care, which confirmed her late-stage diagnosis.
- Patient navigation: RBH matched Lily with an oncology team in Nairobi and guided her through appointments, treatments, and emotional challenges.
- Practical support to ease the financial burdens of her treatment.
Today, Lily is cancer-free and thriving, living proof of what can happen when knowledge, access, and support come together.
“RBH gave me hope, courage, and life. I’m alive today because they stood by me when I needed it most.” — Lily
Josephine and Lily: Stories of Triumph
Josephine, a 48-year-old mother of four, faced a stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis. Like Lily, Josephine struggled with barriers to care. Through RBH’s support, she was able to:
- Access timely and funded diagnosis, catching the cancer before it progressed.
- Receive patient navigation to guide her through treatment and care.
- Benefit from financial assistance to cover transportation, childcare, and medical costs.
Today, both Josephine and Lily are cancer-free and thriving, living their lives with hope, gratitude, and resilience.
“This journey was hard, but I came out stronger because I had RBH’s support. I’m cancer-free and living my best life.” — Josephine
