Project Summary: Rose Breast Health (RBH) has been actively working to improve breast cancer outcomes among underserved women, particularly within the African community in Australia. Our efforts focus on increasing breast cancer screening rates, providing comprehensive support services, and extending our reach to women in Africa.
Activities Since Last Report: Since our last update, RBH has participated several community outreach programs across Sydney, engaging over 500 women. These sessions provided crucial information on the importance of early detection and how to access screening services. We have also partnered with local healthcare providers to offer transportation and translation services, ensuring that language barriers do not prevent women from receiving the care they need.
Impact and Stories: One of the women we helped, Christy, a 45-year-old mother of three, shared how our support enabled her to overcome her fears and schedule her first breast cancer screening. Thanks to our guidance and assistance, Christy’s screening was completed successfully, and she is now an advocate within her community, encouraging other women to prioritize their breast health.
In Nigeria, Salome, another woman supported by RBH, has been able to continue her breast cancer treatment thanks to our financial and navigation support. Additionally, Nwamaka has recently completed her treatment with the help of our services. Both women are now sharing their stories to raise awareness and inspire others in their communities.
Future Plans: We are excited to announce that we will soon be launching a matching campaign to further expand our reach. This initiative will help us bring our services to more women across Australia and Africa.
