Transforming Lives: PLANE's Journey of Empowerment, Gratitude, and Resilience
Introduction:
PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is a beacon of hope for the vulnerable girls and boys in Uganda, striving to break barriers and empower them to reach their full potential. In a nation plagued by issues such as teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, and limited access to healthcare, PLANE stands as a symbol of resilience and empowerment.
Appreciation:
PLANE extends heartfelt appreciation to the generous donors on the GlobalGiving platform and individual supporters who have stood by us in our mission. Your unwavering support fuels our programs and drives us forward in making a tangible impact in the lives of the marginalized youth in Uganda. While the journey has been challenging, with limited global support, the dedication of our local mobilization efforts has kept the flame of hope burning bright.
Achievements:
- Conducted four sensitization meetings in secondary schools, educating students on sexual reproductive health rights and emphasizing the importance of education.
- Organized three community awareness sessions addressing the alarming rates of teenage pregnancies and early marriages linked to HIV infections.
- Produced and broadcasted ten impactful drama episodes on Voice of Tooro 101 FM to raise awareness on the dangers of teenage pregnancies and early marriages.
- Provided education support by covering school fees for a Gender Based Violence survivor, enabling her to pursue her senior four examinations.
Challenges:
While our achievements are commendable, we still face the pressing challenges of limited resources and inadequate global support. The need to expand our reach and deepen our impact on vulnerable youth in Uganda remains our top priority.

In a nation where 1 in 4 girls gives birth before 18 and 25% of girls aged 15-19 have experienced sexual violence, the need for targeted interventions and support is more critical than ever.
