Too Little Children's Pad Project aims to provide 2,500 girls with reusable sanitary pads, enabling them to stay in school and complete their education. Additionally, these pads will help to reduce the risk of exploitation by men attempting to persuade vulnerable girls into engaging in sex in exchange for sanitary products. The project will provide essential education around menstrual health, safe sex practices and care of the pads.
Many school girls in Kenya lack access to affordable menstrual hygiene products. The resulting disruption to their education each month can lead to academic setbacks and a decreased likelihood of completing their studies. Girls who are unable to complete their education are more likely to be forced into early marriage or be limited to low-paying jobs. This can perpetuate the cycle of poverty and inequality.
Reusable sanitary pads provide a more sustainable and affordable solution for girls, allowing them to attend school regularly without worrying about the cost or availability of disposable pads. This can lead to improved academic performance and increased opportunities for girls. The provision of reusable sanitary pads along with essential menstrual health education can have a transformative impact on the lives of girls in Kenya by improving their health, education, and well-being.
The provision of reusable sanitary pads enables a girl to complete her education. Educated women are more likely to participate in the workforce, earn higher incomes, and contribute to economic growth. This can help to lift families and communities out of poverty. Girls who complete their education have better career choices, are more likely to have smaller families and invest in their children's education. This can help to break the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society.
