Girls in urgent need of Menstrual hygiene project

Report on: Empowering Girls: Menstrual Hygiene for Education Project.

Date: July 15, 2025

Introduction
The Empowering Girls: Menstrual Hygiene for Education project aims to address the significant impact of poor menstrual hygiene on girls' education. Despite good intentions, the project has not yet attracted attention and funding since March 2025. We are issuing a call for appeal and reminder to support this critical initiative.

Justification
Poor menstrual hygiene significantly impacts girls' education, causing school absenteeism, hindering academic performance, and potentially leading to dropout. Key barriers include:

- Lack of access to proper menstrual hygiene products
- Inadequate sanitation facilities at school
- Limited knowledge and support regarding menstruation
- Stigma and social taboos surrounding menstruation

Impact on Girls' Education
- Absenteeism and reduced concentration in class
- Negative impact on learning and academic performance
- Increased risk of dropout and decreased educational attainment

Recommendation.

Addressing the Issue
To support girls' menstrual health and education, we recommend:

- Improved WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facilities in schools
- Comprehensive menstrual hygiene education for girls and boys
- Access to affordable and hygienic menstrual products
- Challenging social taboos and promoting open conversations about menstrual health

Call to Action
We urge funders to support this critical initiative, empowering girls to stay in school, learn, and reach their full potential. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for girls' education.

Thank you for considering our appeal.
