On World Environment Day (June 5), Empowering Women of Nepal (EWN) organized a cleanup campaign around Phewa Lake, Pokhara, to maintain the cleanliness of the lake and its surroundings and ensure a welcoming environment for visitors and local residents.
Phewa Lake is an environmental and socio-economic asset to the city of Pokhara, supporting livelihoods, tourism, and daily life in the city. Its preservation is a shared concern among local communities and authorities. The campaign serves as a platform to raise environmental awareness and take direct action against the waste accumulation.
In collaboration with trekking guides from 3 Sisters Trekking Company, EWN team conducted a comprehensive cleanup of the Phewa Lake shoreline and surrounding areas while promoting environmental awareness and fostering collective responsibility for conserving the natural beauty and the lake’s ecological health.
Garbage was collected and safely disposed of, contributing to a cleaner lakeside environment and reinforcing community awareness of environmental conservation.
