Empowering Women of Nepal has proposed this project to support women guides who are in need of financial help to start-up a small scale business. Due to covid-19, tourism in Nepal has drastically dropped leading many women trekking guides jobless, many are facing a lot of challenges and in order to support their family many women guides are starting up a local business. This project will benefit them in the initial stage to operate their dream business.
Nepal is well recognized for tall mountains - for trekking, adventure activities. Due to the pandemic, entire booking for spring season were cancelled and unfortunately we could not work those time of the season. Many of our women guides had no options but to return back their villages. The uncertain lockdown, financial crises has led to severe depression, anxiety and mental health problems. Some of our guides are looking to start-up own business but scarcity of money has hold back to start.
This long term of jobless situation is panicking but at the same time, some of our women guides are researching on business ideas, like restaurant, clothing or farming. It may not always be easy to start-up a business, when it comes to invest money. Therefore, EWN would like support 3 Sisters women guides financial in the initial period, promote women entrepreneur and empower to become financially strong and help accomplish their dream job.
The long - term of impact is to promote women entrepreneurship in remote areas of Nepal. To encouraging women to become an entrepreneur, help in establishing locally and within Nepal. In creating gender equality and eradicating the stereotypes towards women entrepreneurship. Focusing on economic empowerment and growth of women. Reduce unemployment and scarcity of job problem; creating of self-employment, creation of women entrepreneur and breaking the gender stereotype.
