Our Sponsorship Program will finance 35 scholarships for high-achieving students from low-income families, in our flagship school Panajachel Colegio Internacional. This project will provide our students with one-year scholarships, technology tools/resources, and school supplies for this school year.
Close to half the population of Guatemala lives below the poverty line, and many cannot afford to send their children to school past 6th grade when schooling is no longer 100% free. This is especially true for our indigenous Maya communities who see far lower rates of secondary education. This project will impact the lives of 40 students in Panajachel Solola, Department of Guatemala by providing them with tuition to attend Panajachel Colegio Internacional and to buy materials for their education
This projet will give young students from Panajachel and the small towns around tha lake Atitlan Quality Education, mostly focused on English language. Atitlan for being a touristic destination most of the young people work along with their families during the weekend. Having access to Quality Education in English will give them the chance to help their families selling the products that the whole family produce.
PCI students graduate with higher Eduational Standars and this helps them get easily into a local university. English language gives them the chance to get good jobs, support their families and finish their education from a university.
