Since our last update in June, Nyumbani Village has been buzzing with activity and promise. The learners at Lawson High School closed for the August holidays after an eventful term that included talent competitions, mentoring sessions, and sports tournaments. As we begun the final term, our Grade 6, Grade 9 and Form 4 learners got busy with the preparations for their national exams coming up towards the end of October and November, a milestone that represents how far they’ve come through resilience and support.
Among them is Faith, a bright and determined student who dreams of becoming a civil engineer. “I want to build roads, bridges, and safe homes for people who live in poor environments like where I come from,” she says. Having lost her parents at a young age, Faith’s journey has not been easy. Yet, through your support, she has found stability, purpose, and the courage to dream of rebuilding the very world that once felt broken around her.
We also celebrate John, an aspiring surgeon whose story speaks to the heart of Nyumbani’s mission. “I have gone to bed hungry and studied by moonlight,” he shares. “But because of you, I still stand, I still believe, I still dream.” John’s hope to become a healer is a reflection of what your generosity makes possible: a transformation from hardship to hope, and from survival to purpose.
Your continued support ensures that 100 vulnerable children at Nyumbani Village can stay in school, nurture their talents, and prepare for a future filled with opportunity. As our learners prepare to sit for their national exams, we carry deep gratitude for every donor who keeps these dreams alive. Together, we are not only educating children, we are shaping the next generation of changemakers for Kenya.
