For a child orphaned by AIDS, survival is just the first step. We aim to transform them from survivors to scholars. This project empowers 600 bright young minds at Nyumbani Village by providing the secondary education that is their only real bridge from a past of loss to a future of self-reliance.
In Kenya, an estimated 133,000 adolescents live with HIV. For orphans, the educational journey is perilous. A staggering 68% of these vulnerable children will not complete secondary school, locking them into a cycle of poverty and dependence, and dimming the light of their potential. Without intervention, these bright young people face a future severely limited by circumstances beyond their control. The new CBC curriculum, while beneficial, places an even greater financial burden on caregivers.
This is where Nyumbani steps in. We directly pays for tuition, books, uniforms, and a safe place to study. By removing these financial barriers, we provide a clear and proven path for our children to not only attend but to thrive in secondary school. We have a 95% completion rate for our secondary school students. Your contribution is vital in helping us meet the increased resource demands of the CBC, ensuring our students receive a high-quality, relevant education.
A good primary education prepares one for secondary. A secondary school certificate dramatically changes a life. In Kenya, it can more than double a young person's future earning potential. Educated graduates become leaders and role models, proving to 1,000 other children in Nyumbani Village that a different future is possible. Your gift uplifts a generation. Your investment in education creates a ripple effect, fostering independence and resilience for years to come.
