This Project aims to provide scholarships to high school & tertiary students who otherwise wouldn't have access to these opportunities. At least 20 orphaned/vulnerable students are given this opportunity selected based on academic promise & dedication. Gender equality is prioritised & as such 50% of the students are female. These students are supported throughout high school & those who qualify for University are supported throughout their studies & become leaders within their communities.
For many promising & dedicated orphaned & vulnerable children in rural Zimbabwean communities, there is no access to quality schooling beyond primary school. Their families can't afford the fees at boarding schools which have conducive learning environments & well-trained teachers. Tertiary education is even more challenging to access for these individuals. Without access to education, the opportunity to empower and invest in the community falls away and their quality of life cannot be improved.
ABCF has set up scholarship programmes for High School and Tertiary students. Those who are dedicated to their schooling in primary school are supported with High School Scholarships at boarding schools which offer the best quality of education available through a conducive learning environment with fewer distractions and highly qualified teachers. The High School Scholarship students who qualify for University are supported throughout their studies.
By providing equal access to education we'll open doors to earning potential, opportunities & information that will benefit more than just the individual. When returning home, students take on a mentoring role & inspire those around them to work hard & maybe receive a scholarship one day. Each student can have a big impact on the development & empowerment of their community, using their education or career to improve the quality of life; a big step towards breaking the cycle of poverty.
