Our next climate campers are getting on board

VCLC 2021 organizer recruitment
VCLC 2021 organizer recruitment

Dear our kind supporters,
We are excited to inform you that we are ready to kick start VCLC (2021) - CHANGE's annual project with an ultimate goal to empower Vietnamese youth to become the change agents in tackling the ongoing climate crisis.

We started fundraising for VCLC this year by late April. The incredible support right after that from our generous supporters - Schwab Charitable, Flora Nguyen, Mateusz Pospiech, and Raymond Phan motivated and brought up the momentum for us to secure more funding for the project. Since then, we have received a few more small grants from some companies and organizations from both outside and inside Vietnam. The budget now is enough for us to bring the next 50 climate leaders onboard. (The funding raised after this period will be saved for the VCLC 2022).

Similar to the camp carried out in 2019 and 2020, VCLC 2021 has 3 phases. The Outreach and Recruitment Phase is taking place where we have recently recruited three passionate volunteers to support organizing the camp and recruiting the next campers. The Training Phase is expected to happen between 10 and 15 August, where campers will be equipped with climate knowledge, 21st-century skills, and active citizenship to develop projects that benefit local communities in their efforts to combat and adapt to the changing climate in Vietnam. By the end of the training camp, campers in their teams will pitch their project ideas to a judging panel. The five most outstanding teams will be selected and advanced into the Incubation phase in the following three months.

Besides recruiting campers, our team is working hard on the training logistics and curriculum regardless of all the challenges caused by the recent recurrence of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City. We hope that the pandemic will be soon under control so that we can organize the camp on time and bring more activists to the climate world. We will update you more on the project's progress as it goes along.

Once again, thanks a lot for your faith in us.
We wish you a lovely weekend ahead.
Sincerely,
The project team.
