Women and girls in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to face severe economic challenges linked to poverty, unemployment, displacement, gender inequality, and insecurity. Many displaced women and girls are pushed into domestic work and other informal activities simply to survive. Without adequate knowledge of their economic rights or access to sustainable income opportunities, they can become vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and economic dependence.
Through the Empowering Women Through Livelihood Skills project, we aim to support women and girls working as domestic workers and others facing similar economic vulnerabilities. The project will provide practical, income-generating skills, strengthen women's knowledge of their economic rights, and encourage participants to work together through small livelihood activities. Our long-term goal is to help women increase their incomes, improve their living conditions, reduce their vulnerability to exploitation, and participate more actively in the economic life of their communities.
The project is currently in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase. We have not yet received project funding, and $0 has been raised so far toward the $100,000 target. We are currently identifying qualified trainers and potential participants so that implementation can begin as soon as the necessary resources are secured. Our collaboration with GlobalGiving gives us an important opportunity to reach a wider community of international donors and move closer to our fundraising goal. We sincerely thank GlobalGiving and everyone who has supported, shared, or shown interest in this initiative.
We now invite donors, organizations, and individuals who believe in women's economic empowerment to stand with us. Your contribution can help a woman gain a practical skill, create an income, become more economically independent, and build a more secure future for herself and her family. Together, we can turn this project from a plan into a source of real opportunity for women and girls in eastern DR Congo.
