Dear CORDEM donors,
We write to you with a deep sense of gratitude, because through your donations CORDEM has been able to continue working for its mission: to encourage women who lack educational opportunities and emotional support, supporting them in their process of personal transformation in order for them to impact positively on their community and transcend the social fabric.
These past three months have been full of celebrations, experiences and new challenges that have reminded us why for the past 22 years we have been driven by our commitment. We are still inspired, and committed, towards a more equitable and humane world with greater equal opportunities for women.
During the month of June we celebrated the graduation of five women who were part of the community of CORDEM as members of our program: we are proud to have been a bridge for them to develop academic and professional tools, and we are excited to have provided safe spaces through their therapeutic groups in which empowerment was the protagonist. To celebrate, we invited them to the Graduates Dinner, accompanied by Alicia Villarreal (therapist), Diana González (program manager) and Belibet Andrade (General Director).
Likewise, and as part of the end of the semester, the students of our program experienced an ‘Emotional Writing Workshop’ facilitated by Priscila Garza —writer and editor based in Monterrey— in which they learned how words can be a vehicle for emotional healing and liberation.
We share with you the fragment of a letter written in this workshop by Frida Sofía Rivera, one of our five graduates of the semester:
The first few days the question “why are you here?” arose from the Dean, the Director, teachers and even colleagues. "I want to help," she replied. She knew from a book she had read that the role of lawyers is fundamental in society: to fight against the injustices presented by the system, and that is what she wanted to be: a social fighter.
Today I embrace all the Frida’s I have been, and I thank them for the path we have traveled… this is just beginning.
Finally, we are excited to share with you that our July Bonus Day campaign was very successful, and that would not have been possible without each and every one of you: with every donation received that day, GlobalGiving matched our project up to 50%. It’s the sum of actions like these that create great social transformations, and we hope you feel proud to be part of our history and the path of women that are dreaming, and working, towards a greater future for them, for their families and their society.
We are aware that we are very lucky, and fortunate, to have you… Thank you for believing in, and being part of, CORDEM!

Estimados benefactores CORDEM,
