In the underserved community of Badaber, Peshawar, Dosti Welfare Organization has launched a transformative initiative aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting women's empowerment. The Swing and Skills Development Center serves as a safe, nurturing space where more than 400 young girls receive both basic education and hands-on vocational training. This initiative also supports widows and mothers- women who are rebuilding their lives and learning income-generating skills to support their families.
Challenges: Women and girls in Badaber face significant barriers, including:
Extreme poverty
Low literacy rates
Cultural restrictions on employment
Outdated training infrastructure
Insufficient trainer compensation
With increasing demand and limited resources, the center is unable to accommodate all those seeking help.
Solution: With the support of donors, this project will:
Upgrade and refurbish the center's facilities
Provide essential training materials and sewing kits
Offer fair wages and professional development to trainers
Skills offered include:
Sewing and tailoring
Embroidery
Jewelry-making
Basic literacy and numeracy
This integrated approach ensures that women not only learn marketable skills but also gain the confidence to use them.
Long-Term Impact: This project aims to:
Empower over 400 women and girls with education and vocational skills
Enable widows and mothers to achieve financial independence
Strengthen families and reduce dependency on aid
Create a replicable model for women’s empowerment in other marginalized communities across Pakistan
By equipping women with the tools and training to become self-reliant, this initiative addresses the root causes of poverty and inequality.
Call to Action: Your support can directly change lives. Just $25 can provide a month’s worth of training materials for one student. A fully funded center means a future where women in Badaber are no longer defined by hardship but empowered by opportunity.
Join us in building sustainable futures—one stitch at a time.
