The "Mama Ni Nguvu" project aims to break the cycle of poverty in rural DRC by providing vulnerable women with the financial tools and knowledge necessary to build sustainable livelihoods. By combining revolving micro-loans with financial literacy training, DYJEPREDHU ASBL seeks to transform "survival-level" activities into profitable micro-enterprises, thereby improving household nutrition, health, and children's education.
The lack of support and resources faced by vulnerable women and cross-border traders in the informal sector, which hinders their economic development. These women face obstacles such as limited access to training, financial services, and market opportunities, resulting in low incomes and economic insecurity.
This project will provide targeted training in business skills, financial literacy, and market access to empower women traders. By creating networking opportunities and supporting women's rights within trade, we will enhance their economic resilience. The initiative will also facilitate partnerships with local markets, enabling these women to grow their businesses and increase their incomes sustainably. These microcredit funds are an asset for implementing the project's activities.
The project's success is characterized by the improvement of small-scale commercial and production activities carried out by women entrepreneurs, who are professionalizing their businesses. The increased income generated by these activities ensures their transition from the informal to the formal sector, specifically through small and medium-sized enterprises. Economic activities in the informal sector have become the linchpin and inexhaustible source of survival for 95% of the poor population
