As you know, Mayama Work is through a Day Center designed especially for children that live high poverty (in Tonalá and Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico) developed skills in 5 areas: physical, cognitive, social, emotional, expressive.

But how do we know that the work of Mayama work?

Based on the theory of the capabilities of the authors Martha Nussbaum and Amartya Sen; Mayama has developed a scale of capabilities where each child's progress in each area is evaluated quarterly. In an overall result, from November 2015 to August 2016, we can say that thanks to the intervention in 5 areas of development, the Program Back to School and intervention with each family, 70% of children have achieved an observable progress in their 5 development areas, 18.75% have remained in the same situation and 11.25% haven’t have a progress (See Figure 1).

Despite the overall figures, it is important to note that individual progress of each and family, rely heavily on the cooperation of family, the child's developmental age and personality. So it is important to mention a case study (see Figure 2). The instrument integrates a table of score from 1 to 5 that goes from high to low "always does" to "not do". In this case of this child represent on figure 2, we can illustrate such achievements especially in the area I feel / I relate because he has learned to work with their emotions, learn and have a wider emotional vocabulary to express what he thinks and what he feels, in addition to tolerate difficult situations, hand in hand with I care that has to do with hygiene. In the area of I act, also works with the methodology for acts of good treatment (recognize violence to prevent it), we see that this child would still difficult to control their impulses. This is also because emotional development is first, in order to implement it.

The above case is a child who is in his year 1 of 5 years in Mayama; with this we reiterate the hypothesis Mayama that for every year that a child remains in Mayama maturity recovers are 1344 hours less street child, the culture of peace introjects, there is greater reflection on early pregnancy and develop a project life with higher expectations based on their Social Human Rights.

Thanks for being part of Mayama.
