Mayama is an NGO (Non Governmental Organization), based in Guadalajara, Mexico that continues with its doors open to 180 children and their families in marginalization, violence, abuse, orphans, exclusion or risk street situation. And thanks to your support, this year will enter 90 new children to our program. Exactly how our program works? We have a Model of Human Development, through psycho-educational strategies, develop skills for assertive decisions leading to better quality of life and overcome the difficulties of their environment by themselves.
We do this through a Day Center (where the children attend twice a week) and a Family Program, where through sessions with all child's family members, Mayama work on issues such as Human Rights, Culture of peace, communication and hygiene, to reduce violence and to reintegrate these children to school in order to avoid they end living on the streets.
As evidence of the social impact of our program, this quarter ended a period of four years for 40 children of the second generation (they started in 2011). These children, now continue their phase of "Coaching", what does this mean? is a special process of support for the girls and guys who accomplished at least 80% attendance, which continue studying in the regular system, they are free addiction, free of early pregnancy, which are people who give good treatment to themselves and others, and have finally managed to design a life plan.
In this event, we enjoyed some videos made by the Mayama children. This was a parte of the final audiovisual project with issues related to their community. With this exercise, children put into practice the skills learned in Mayama: analyzing their context, express a problem and think about possible solutions to it. This is a mini-project "the importance and care for dogs" you can see in this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb3gj8Rp5HQ
These four years of process in each Mayama child, it would not have been possible without your help. Your donation makes this possible: their attendance at the Day Center, daily transportation payment, nutritious breakfasts, teaching materials, specialized teachers, among others.
Thank you very much.
