Creativity and hard work!

Creativity has been a very important part of our work this year. Mayama children participated with Mrs. Rosa Murillo in UNESCO’s “Mexico, art and time” publication, titled “Identity, environmental care and human values”. The results were fantastic and consisted of several paintings, in which the children were able to express their ideas.
This trimester has also been very important in terms of ecology and environmental awareness. The children have been working on 'green walls'. This term refers to plastic bottles that hang from top to bottom, filled with soil in which the children plant seeds and take care of them. This develops empathy, a sense of responsibility and at the same time enhances the oxygen in our Day Centre and to their houses as well, because each boy/girl made their own green wall to take home.
At the same time, we have been working in the community with weekly workshops in which 30 moms learned how to develop vegetable patches and compost areas. This is important because in this way, they can have healthy food and save money at the same time. They also participated in another workshop to prevent risks and accidents.
In our 'Back to School' program, 7 children are now assisting regularly at school, and we’re about to put the 13 children left forward to achieve the 100% of our first group (20 children) studying.
In the emotional field, the main topic has been self esteem, working with art (masks) to recognize their own strength and their partner’s. In social development, the children are working on their family tree, mainly focused on the professions they have devoted to, in order to analyze whether if they want to do the same or consider other options.
With your support, you give this children and families the chance to have a better future!
