Great learnings to boost a great beginning.

By Paola Vega | Events & Campaings Coordinator

5th new generation of children and families.
5th new generation of children and families.

2017 was a year of great changes, challenges and many achievements for Mayama, thanks to which we have grown significantly, forming solid foundations for this new year. And ¡You were part of all of it!

An example of this was the closing event of the Trust phase of the population living the area of Tonalá, which took place on November 25 at Quinta San Pedro place. During the event we had around 300 people, between children and their families, participating in the games organized by the team and supported by the volunteers, aiming to create an atmosphere of joy, trust and approach between all the attendees.

The closing event of the confidence phase was of great importance, since it meant that 67 families from the municipality of Tonala will begin in February 26th, a process of transformation through phsycoeducational family sessions and the attendance of 98 children at the Mayama day center. We call this new stage "Intensive phase", and represent 3.6 years of our intervention.

In addition to this, we also carry out our traditional End of the Year Celebration, where we gather 121 children and their families, part of our programs, with the purpose of having a fun time and announcing the main achievements of 2017 and main plans for 2018. During the celebration, the families ate delicious hot dogs and played games organized by the team and the volunteers, in which all the members of the family were able to participate, in the end the children received a present for each and a bag of candies, a Mexican tradition. This last event announced the holidays of our program to children and their parents.

Likewise, the last two weeks the Mayama team dedicated itself to the planning of 2018 and to continue training their day center and family educators’ team regarding the topic of Emotional literacy, an area highly relevant to the programs we work with.

In this way we have started January with the right foot, accompanied by a vision of improvement and growth, which will be our guide to continue providing the best of us to each child and family.

Undoubtedly, 2017 was a great year full of work and satisfaction that motivates us to continue giving the best of us. We thank each of our donors for trusting us, wishing that this new cycle is full of great opportunities for each one, we still count on you this 2018.
