Final Report: Expanding Access to Quality Care

By Beth MacNairn | Deputy Director

Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) Final Report

Our 2019 Resolution: Continue Expanding Access to Quality Care

www.hvousa.org

Your support in 2018 contributed to the completion of nearly 450 volunteer assignments. HVO volunteers worked with local providers in resource-scarce countries to provide hands-on training, continuing education, mentorship, research advisement, curriculum development, and more.

While this funding opportunity is drawing to a close, HVO’s vital work to expand access to quality health care continues. Visit our website at www.hvousa.org to engage with HVO and our projects to improve health care around the globe.

In 2019, HVO will continue to expand access to quality health care and to transform lives by strengthening the global health workforce through education and training. We will cultivate new and current partnerships to bring education and professional development opportunities to health workers. We will uphold our values of innovation, partnership, stewardship and excellence. We will work toward quality health care for all people.

With 2019 underway, we look forward to:

  • responding to new requests for training support from hospitals, universities and clinics in low resource countries;
  • expanding, diversifying and promoting our projects and global partnerships;
  • facilitating dialogue around strengthening health workforce capacity and supporting continued research into best practices;
  • strengthening and expanding our organizational capacity;
  • sharing more stories of impact;
  • ensuring quality care is available to all by working together with our stakeholders.

Our 2019 resolutions are not new, but a new year provides an excellent opportunity to reaffirm our resolve – and invite members of our community to do the same. We invite you to join us as we work toward our vision for a world where all people have access to high quality health care delivered by local health workers.

Today is a perfect day to start on your own resolution to improve global health this year, and we invite you to stay connected to our work.
