In the displacement camps of Goma, North Kivu, menstruation can become an additional hardship for girls and women who have already lost the security of their homes. Limited access to menstrual products, clean water, soap, and reliable information can affect their health, dignity, confidence, and ability to continue school or daily activities. Through the “Empower Girls With Menstrual Hygiene Kits” project, we aim to support 1,000 displaced girls and women with reusable menstrual hygiene kits, soap, intimate hygiene supplies, and practical education on menstrual health and reproductive hygiene.
The project has a total budget of $10,000. At this stage, no funds have yet been raised, and the field activities have not started. Our team is currently in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase, including the identification of qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the menstrual health sessions. Once funding is secured, the project will move into implementation, with the distribution of 1,000 hygiene kits and community-based training designed to give participants practical knowledge they can use safely and confidently. We will work with local partners and community actors to ensure that the support reaches women and girls who need it most.
Although the project is still at an early stage, we believe that providing a menstrual hygiene kit can mean much more than providing basic supplies. It can help a young girl attend school with greater confidence, help a displaced woman manage her menstrual cycle with dignity, and open conversations about a subject that is often surrounded by stigma. We are grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects local organizations with supporters around the world and gives this initiative an opportunity to reach the resources it needs. We warmly invite donors, individuals, foundations, and partners to support this project and help us reach our $10,000 fundraising goal. Every contribution can help transform menstrual hygiene from a daily challenge into an opportunity for dignity, health, confidence, and hope. To everyone who has already shown interest in this initiative, and to those who will support it in the future, thank you for standing with displaced girls and women in Goma.
