In Cambodia, thousands of girls are at risk of being trafficked into the commercial sex industry due to poverty, lack of education, and social vulnerability. Free To Shine works to protect these school-aged girls by providing education, social support, and leadership development. Through our program, we conduct monthly safety visits, provide essential school materials, and ensure access to basic needs so that girls can stay in school and build a future free from trafficking and exploitation.
Many Cambodian families struggle with extreme poverty, which increases the risk of sex trafficking. Girls often drop out of school due to hunger, illness, migration, and family breakdown. Without education and social support, they are highly vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking. Lack of awareness about human rights and gender equity further exacerbates these risks, limiting their opportunities for a secure and independent future.
Free To Shine tackles vulnerability by conducting monthly safety visits to mitigate risks like poverty and violence. We provide crisis support, school supplies, uniforms, and bicycles to ensure girls stay in school. Financial aid helps them advance academically, while access to food, water, and shelter secures their well-being. Leadership training and mentorship empower young women, and community workshops on human rights and gender equity foster long-term safety.
By keeping girls in school and equipping them with knowledge, resources, and leadership skills, we are building a future where they are safe, independent, and empowered to break cycles of poverty and exploitation. Educated girls become role models, transforming their families and communities. Investing in their education and safety leads to a more just and equitable society for generations to come.
