Pooja (21) from Mumbai, is currently in her third year of pursuing a degree in Banking and Insurance. She comes from a family of seven, where her father has been suffering from a brain disease for the past few years. Her mother works at Sassoon Dock, serving as the main breadwinner and pillar of support for the family.
Pooja’s association with the OSCAR Foundation began in grade 8, when she first took up football. Initially, she had little knowledge of the sport and struggled with self-confidence, communication and networking skills. However, through consistent practice and dedication, she gradually improved her football abilities and developed personally.
After seven years of involvement with the OSCAR Foundation, Pooja has become a Young Leader, sharing the knowledge she has gained with children in her community. For the past three years, she has served in this leadership role, using her experiences as both a player and a leader to inspire and mentor others.
Pooja attributes her personal growth and development to the support and coaching she received through various OSCAR Foundation programmes, including the Education Project, Buland Project, LAAL and Kick Like a Girl. She is deeply grateful to the OSCAR Foundation for helping her acquire invaluable life skills and the confidence to succeed both on and off the field.
