The flood affected victim families have demanded and interest for long run income generation opportunities. For this baseline assessment have been carried out by MRC Nepal for the possible income generation opportunity. Based on finding, technical feasibility and interest of the farmer, off season vegetable production technology is the best option for increasing income and better livelihood of the victim families. There is no other better option as the vegetable gives good income in shortest period time. The areas are much favorable for vegetable production as there is fertile land and irrigation for vegetable production, MRC Nepal provided skill enhancement capacity building training on fresh vegetable production. As a starter MRC Nepal supported seeds of improved crop and varieties, production materials, bio pesticide making training for organic vegetable production. As a result majority of the affected people are able to produce organic vegetable in their garden which generate attractive income and meet the kitchen requirement of vegetable. This interventions support balance diet in nutrition and food security of the poor household.
