Project Report | Apr 29, 2026
updating report

By Yonas Mamo Zewde | Executive Director

Dear GlobalGiving Donors,

We extend our sincere gratitude for your continued support and commitment to improving educational opportunities at Makod Primary School in rural Ethiopia.

Current Progress

In recent months, we have made meaningful progress by mobilizing the local community to actively participate in the project. Community members have generously contributed their time and labor. They have undertaken essential tasks such as repairing classrooms, clearing the school compound, and supporting ongoing renovation efforts.

Despite this encouraging progress, we are currently facing a significant challenge. The procurement of critical construction materials, including concrete blocks, student chairs, lighting fixtures, and other supplies, remains unfunded. Without these materials, the community’s contributions cannot be fully utilized, and project implementation has slowed considerably.

A Story from the Ground

Abebe, a 12-year-old Grade 5 student, expressed both hope and concern regarding the condition of his school:

“We are ready to learn, but our classrooms need help. When it rains, it becomes dark and difficult to study.”

His words reflect the shared experience of many students and teachers who remain eager to see these improvements realized.

How You Can Help

Your support at this critical stage will directly enable us to procure the materials necessary to sustain progress and maximize the community’s efforts. Contributions of any size will have an immediate and tangible impact:

  • $25 provides concrete blocks for classroom repairs
  • $40 helps purchase student chairs to reduce overcrowding
  • $60 supports the installation of basic classroom lighting

Every contribution brings us closer to completing these essential improvements.

Looking Ahead

Once the required materials are secured, we will proceed with completing classroom renovations, enhancing the learning environment, and advancing our mission to provide quality education for over 2,000 students.

We respectfully invite your continued support to help transform the community’s dedication into lasting and meaningful change.

Thank you once again for your generosity and trust in our work.

With deep appreciation,
