Ruwa Kids Project (ProNi)
Ruwa Kids Project (ProNi)

Kathy is an amazing leader that coordinates the Kids program (ProNi), and with a group of young volunteers from Manchay, and volunteers different parts of Lima, they nurture 4 seeds are in kids from San Pablo: Self-esteem, Resilience, Freedom and Healthy Coexistence. Every Saturday and Sunday of the year a group of youth volunteers help nurture these seeds through Arts, Creativity and Sports workshops, where 50 kids enjoy a safe space where they can develop and grow. Besides Kathy, Analia, Wilson, Gian, Frank, and Isabel are volunteers for the Kids project, and this is part of their empowerement process, that started in the School of Entrepreneurs, and will continue with some exciting news that we will share in the next Report =)

Thanks for you help, and for being part of this family.

Ruwa Team

6 Youth from Manchay: Wilson, Frank, Gian, Liz, Liz Merly and Geraldine, started the Street Soccer program, where they are teaching Street Soccer to 20 kids from San Pablo Mirador Community.

These workshops are going to take place every Sunday and the are lead by young volunteers from Manchay, that once were kids in Ruwa's projects.

Those 6 youth were part of the Leadership Bootcamp that we had, and they are now making changes in their community. THen they will be part of a national network for promoting Street Soccer with hundreds of kids and young people in Peru. =)

One of the videos of the workshops can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/ruwasunchis/videos/2075653262464456/

Empowered youth that have been part of our school of entrepreneurs have new challenges =)

Bea (19) and Isabel (20), inspiring young leaders of Manchay, are now part of Ruwasunchis team, and the are leading the project of Kids and Women, respectively. Bea, along with other 5 youth of Manchay that are volunteers, will be leading the project for 50 kids in Manchay. They will nurture creativity and self-esteem in those 50 kids, with arts, sports and creativity workshops every weekend of the year.

Isabel will have a really beautiful challenge leading the project of weavers. Isa studied Design with a scholarship that Ruwasunchis, individual donors and Chio Lecca gave to her, and she is a very talented and commited woman. The project for women will let them increase their income, and have access to nutrition and "smart eating" workshops.

We are very happy that the youth that are part of our project now assume the challenges of their communities, and they are now role models for other young women from their community and for our society in general.

Gerald is 19 years old and has been part of Ruwa's family since she was 10. It’s been an amazing journey together getting to the point that this year she has been leading the youth group to a new level.

She has been able to mobilize more than 50 youth from Manchay to motivate them to go each Sunday and receive different workshops of our program. She has also been able to manage difficult situations and give positive advise to the younger ones.

She and other 45 youth have received over 40 hours of training in Ruwa skills development (humble leadership, effective communication, creativity, change management, meaningful collaboration, empathy and entrepreneurial attitude).

One of our main focus was to help them to discover their own life project. It is characterized by young people from vulnerable communities, it is the dispersion when focusing on their life trajectory and the search for motivation and clarity that allows them to break the circle of the poverty in which they grew up. Each of them will leave at the end of the program with a plan of life armed and reflected by themselves.

Gerald has a clear path now, she knows she wants to help people through her career, psychology and have a social impact with young people from vulnerable places.

We invite you to contact us any time, Gerald would love to meet you and keep growing through conversations and inspiration. ¡Thank you for being part of our lifes!

Wilson is  a 15 year-old that at the beginning of our School of Entrepreneurs wouldn’t even look at us in the eyes, he would be very daring against anyone. However, he would never miss any of our classes every Saturday, full day, which gave us the continuity to get to know him better. At the 5th session, everyone was proposing posible projects to help their community and he suggested working with children in Manchay. At the end of the day we went to explore the nature and do some dynamics to increase their creativity, and he opened up and told us he had a little baby brother with special needs and he wanted to create a better community so his brother could grow up happy and secure.

After all this time, he’s become a referent amongst other youngster and is more confident and has an excellent attituted to teamwork. He shared with us: “I met a lot of people that I get to admired, people that inspired me with their stories. They motivated us to have a future, to be what we really feel. When the people that visited us told us about their problems and how they overcome it, I felt identified with them. They helped me to show my feelings and inspired me to see my potential”.

During the School of Entrepreneurs, different activities are generated in spaces of synergy. Stories, laughter, opening up and learning are emerging from dynamics that awaken in the youngsters their creativity without limits or  judgments. Our “Believe in yourself to Create” methodology is a cross key aspect in the workshop, because it brings different knowledge; as well as it invites to be part of the joint creation, in order to solve social problems that the workshop participants evidence or experience.

Like Wilson, many other youngster have been part of the following workshops, starting to develop skills such as Active Listening, Leadership, Confidence, Empathy, Humility, Teamwork, Effective Communication, Creativity and Self-esteem.

A. Active Listening and Effective Communication: Workshop executed with the aim that the young people develop a conscious, respectful and real listening. In addition to developing different activities and workshops to improve communication and to be able to express themselves in a more authentic and trustworthy way.

B.  Inspiration and Motivation: Different moments and stories from people with different experiences shared to inspire and give young people a different perspective on their futures, options and opportunities.

C. Singing and Body Expression: With rhythm, music and sounds, the young people were awakening their interest in singing. The singer Merian, with all her experience, gave the young people different tools and techniques to express themselves and to reach out to others.

D. Creativity through Dynamics: Different socio-emotional skills are developed, through games and playful dynamics, awakening the abilities and competences of the youngster. Every activity made in spaces of respect, companionship and trust. Avoiding judgments and losing the fear of error/mistake.

Other youngster have also shared their experience with us:

"I learned to express myself better, I met new people, I developed my creativity without being judged. I liked that we could express and say things as a child, think crazy ideas and become leaders”. - Katiuska

“I’ve learned about solidarity, respect, empathy, teamwork, loved the dynamics and get to make more friends”. - Frank

"My way of being has improved. At first I did not speak and I did not want to speak, now I can speak when is my turn. I used to be quiet, and now I am not, I got free and I feel that I am freer. Share my thoughts of leadership with others. Since I'm shy, I do not like expressing myself, now I'm free. " - Nilsa
