2026 has been a year of significant growth for Sinkumunchis, both in the number of young people we reach and in the strength of the programs and systems behind our work.
As of October, 2,553 children and young people are enrolled in our programs, 37.29% of them girls. Across our schools, participants have accumulated more than 44,000 attendances and 2,477 hours of football training this season.
During the second quarter, one of our biggest milestones was the launch of the Sinku App, our digital platform developed with Propel. Coaches and coordinators can now register attendance, monitor participation, and follow each participant individually. By Q2, the platform already contained records for more than 3,000 participants from over 20 communities across Cusco and Apurímac, giving our team much better information to understand participation and improve our programs.
We also continued strengthening the quality of our work. Sinkumunchis was selected for Common Goal’s Football for Good Capacity Grant, joining a cohort of 25 organizations from 18 countries. This support is helping us invest in coach development in areas including methodology, pedagogy, safeguarding, session planning, and continuous professional development.
Our work increasingly goes beyond the football field. In partnership with Universidad Le Cordon Bleu, we completed a nutritional assessment of 144 children and adolescents in Champaccocha, Apurímac. The study identified important challenges, including chronic malnutrition, anemia, excess weight, and inadequate hydration. These findings are now helping us build a more evidence-based approach to nutrition and wellbeing for the communities we serve.
Competition has also become an increasingly important part of our participants’ development. Our Ligas Yape–Sinkumunchis brought together girls and boys from U8 through U20 categories in Cusco and Apurímac, creating regular opportunities to compete with young people from neighboring communities and work toward our year-end Interregional
Our competitive programs also achieved important milestones. Sinku FC Women Cusco won the Urubamba provincial championship for the second consecutive year and advanced to the Cusco departmental stage, while our Andahuaylas women’s team finished third in its provincial competition.
At youth level, our first participation in the Peruvian Football Federation’s “Creciendo con el Fútbol” tournament produced another milestone: our U12 boys became district champions in San Jerónimo, Andahuaylas, while our U10 and U8 teams both finished third. One of our participants, David, was also named Best Player of the tournament.
We are equally proud of the opportunities being created for women within football. Through a new partnership with Be Natural, six Sinkumunchis women coaches are receiving scholarships to pursue the Peruvian Football Federation’s FUTEC C coaching license, helping them grow as coaches, leaders, and role models in their communities.
This year has also brought important external recognition. Sinkumunchis became the first organization in Peru to receive the Soccer For Good GET LOUD Award, presented by the Elevate Prize Foundation in partnership with Common Goal.
Finally, our ability to sustain this growth took an important step forward through new multi-year support from the Kaphan Foundation for 2026–2028. This funding will strengthen our operational team and allow us to invest more consistently in program quality and future expansion.
What makes us most proud is that these achievements are connected: more young people are participating, our coaches are becoming stronger, our data is improving, our wellbeing work is becoming more evidence-based, and participants have more opportunities to learn, compete, and grow.
