Dear friend of GGG,
never a dull moment in our organization! We are always busy with our weekly Go Girl meetings, mother club meetings, home visitations, IT classes and sewing classes. And the last couple of months are no exception. We like sharing some visuals though so you see what we do.
But for today, we would like to highlight 2 special projects we have been working on. First of all, our first annual Creative Minds Challenge! Meant to inspire girls to read more, get better at writing and creative thinking. 3 girls from Buduburam and 3 girls from Nyanyano competed against eachother and they both gave it their all. A lot of preperations were done before the event from both the girls as our team and the event was a huge success! The girls now want to do it every month. The winners of this challenge was team Nyanyano and we give them a big congrats on their win!
Our other project has everything to do with pads. Pads are expensive in Ghana and girls do not go to school whilst menstruating because they can't afford them. With the help of one of our generous donors, we have started a pad making project for reusable pads. After months of testing different materials, fabrics and designs, we have come to a pad which is comfortable and lasts. We are about half way in making 600 pads which will be donated to our 200 girls. Super proud of the teams hard work! Will of course share pictures once the girls have received them.
Next time we will inform you about our back to school program and our yearly JHS 3 outing, celebrating the girls who will transition from JHS (junior highschool) to SHS (senior highschool).
We want to thank you for your continued support and don't forget to follow our stories on Facebook!
Best wishes,
team GGG
