Dear friend of Go Girl Ghana,
A very happy new year to you! 2023 has been a busy year for us and we are quite proud of all the things we have accomplished. In our last report we told you about our SALT CLCP training, our first IT graduation and fashion show. And we ended the year with quite a few interesting programs too.
First off we held a reproductive health screening for our girls in collaboration with Ghana Health Services. It turned out we this was a good decision to do the screening. From the results of the tests, it became clear that our girls' personal hygiene practises need some work. Girls are taught bad practises from home or none at all which leads to all sorts of unhealthy situations. Now we can educate them on best practise!
We also hosted a community meeting in both Nyanyano fishing community and Buduburam with the theme "Good parenting leads to community growth". In this meeting we wanted to explain to the wider communities how good parenting can lead to positive change in their community, how much girls need their parents to be succesful in their education but also what the lack of parental support leads to. We had guests speakers from different walks of life, our mother club and girl groups did dramas on the subject and 5 of our girls inspired us all with their stories. Please see the links below for a selection of this.
Last but not least, some of our girls gratuated from junior to senior highschool and we helped 20 of them further their education with back to school support. That was quite the end of an amazing year.
We hope on your continued support in 2024, spread the word on our work and follow us on facebook and see the work we do.
Best wishes,
Go Girl Ghana team
