Empower 30 Grandmothers in Uganda get Skills

MARCH 2016 REPORT
This quarterly report outlines the progress of activities, successes and challenges of Jopa. It also represents a landmark in the provision of Vocational skills Training by Jopa.
We have able to extend our services to 500 beneficiaries. 50 trainees are currently undergoing training in Tailoring, Knitting, and Hairdressing
Central to all the Jopa's objectives is to place the Young mothers and grand mothers at the centre of what we do and to ensure the continued provision of Vocational skills to these people when they need us.
We have delivered further reductions in un employment during the past years and our surveys continue to demonstrate high levels of satisfaction from the beneficiaries of our services.
The skills and commitment of our members and staff are fundamental in achieving our desire to promote skills development and our thanks go to all staff, members and volunteers, who have worked for Jopa during this first quarter.
However, the achievement of the financial duties has been a major challenge and our thanks go to the anonymous donor for the contribution of $30 .
I want to request all our partners to continue supporting us such that we can improve the quality of life of our people
About our activities
Our activities of training young mothers and grandmothers are still going on.
In January we had a graduation ceremony for 60 young mothers and 4 grand mothers who had completed their training in Tailoring, knitting and hair dressing.
This ceremony was attended by local leaders and the area member of parliament. The successful trainees were extremely happy for their achievements and they thanked Jopa executive, local leaders, their trainers for the support they have extended to them that has enabled them to complete training.
We believe these skills are going to help them be economically independent. They just not need a little push inform of startup machines and tools and then they will take off.
Other achievement
We have also managed to secure one knitting machines for one of the grandmother to help her make sweaters for sell to the neighboring schools such that she can be able to raise income which can enable support her family and grand children
We would like thank out Donors for the$30 donation, we have not yet received it but I know when we receive that donation it will be put to proper use and it will really bring positive changes in the lives of the grand mothers
Challenge
Our major challenge is still limited funds and tools to be used in training
We do encourage more people to join our cause such that we can reduce the misery and suffering of mothers which comes as a result of lack of reliable source of income, being aware that most when in Africa are not allowed to own property.
We believe given right training and start up machines we shall be able to uplift their welfare.
Between January and February we have registered 05 grand mothers and 20 young mothers who have joined for training.
Training has not been very effective in these two months because we have been having presidential and parliamentary elections in our. We have also just concluded in local council elections. Therefore some of our trainees have been engaged in campaigns and voting.
Since election is over, serious business has now started at our site.
