Organization for Development and Solidarity plans to support 750 rural women who are widows and single mothers access micro-credit as low as $50 per woman to build and expand small scale enterprises.
Rural poor women who are widowed and head families; either as widows or single mothers, have great problems getting a simple micro-credit to start up or expand their businesses because they do not have accounts with the banks, fear high interest rates charged (30% p.a) and lack collateral like land to secure a small loan from the banks.
The project will provide a micro-credit initiative issuing a collateral free, interest bearing (6% p.a) loans for as low as $50, and skills enhancement training of $15, to 750 rural poor women of Teso Sub-region to start up or expand business.
The project will provide 750 rural poor women with entrepreneurial skills and start-up capital of $50 each,help them improve their household incomes, allowing them to rise out of poverty and business illiteracy, be able to provide for their family.
